The first of November 2012 signed the papers that made us the owner of a summer house. The first time we saw it we fell in love with the view and the surrounding country side. The house itself is in big need of renovation and we started working almost immediately after we bought it. I will add pictures her as the work proceed.
Next house next in turn to be painted. Preparation started.
New drain installed and stone paving fixed with sand between the stones.
Time to renovate the terrace room. The roof and windows shall be replaced.
The outdoor kitchen now stands firmly on stone paving. There wasnt enough sand so the last adjustments and sand between the stone slabs will have to wait until the next visit.
Birds nest on the ladder.
New valve for the incoming summer water (pumped up from Gölsjön).
New water pipes indoors for the new kitchen zink (to be installed soon). A small water heater will also be installed
New water pipe (cold water only) and drain in the toilet.
The new outdoor kitchen zink.
Sundown by Gölsjön
Screws, nails and mountings that we saved during the renovation. Threw away most of it.
Cup of coffee and guitar play in the sun.
First outdoor coffee.
Cat has his hunting grounds in the meadow beside
Barrel as we burn branches in
New furniture for the patio
Spent some time cleaning the old tool shed and dug away som dirt to be able to open the door fully.
Currently this is where we wash our hands. Ten liters of water last surprisingly long when its freezing cold.
The toilet now has a sink (but no water yet) and a mirror.
The dart board is up.
Spring view from south east
Last rays of sun through the budding greenery.
The new barbecue area. Will probably build a decking around it to make the chairs stand strait.
Gutters up and and new downspouts now in place.
The new kitchen fan.
Fire place area now complete.
Spring is here for real. Garden bench out and the easter lily in full bloom .
Some new furniture and carpets, feels more cozy
Hiding the fuse box by putting panels around it.
The old ”bath room” is next in turn to be renovated. Some plastering and painting needed.
New gutters up and and new downspouts will be added soon.
New piles of garbage build up as soon as we do som work.
New tile behind the stove and behind / under the fireplace.
No more crap behind the house
The old rotten roof on our outhouse is now removed and replaced by fresh fragrant planks and roofing felt. A small annoying bubble in the middle of the roof (second image), due to uneven planks, has to be fixed. Next spring we will put some paint on the wall and it will look like new again.
This is what roof looked like before. No a pretty site.
Added a skirt around the bottom of the house. Looks really nice I think.
This is how it looked when we bought it, on the brink of not being possible to save.
A lot has happened since beginning of June. We still have a lot to do but it moves forward. We got some cheap furniture for both indoor and outdoor. We worked hard with the windows, scraping and painting. We finally got hold on an electrician and we now have electricity in all rooms. Next big job is the toilet house. The roof and floor carpet will be replaced and some paint will be put on the outside and inside wall. Many pictures this time so I let them speak for themselves.
Its been a weekend of hard work. Focus has now moved outdoor because the facade is in high need of maintenance. Mostly painting but some boards needs to replaced with new ones. My father in law helps out a lot in this area – Thanks!
The weather was almost to hot and sunny thursday to saturday.
Marie cleans roof from moss.
The boys where heavily involved in scraping off old flaking paint.
Short break to put on sunscreen. Things lay around everywhere and its a bit chaotic.
Well earned break in the shadows.
Old loose paint removed
Vegetation around the toolshed cut down to be able to paint it.
New boards mounted on the south and east walls by my father in law. Mother in law supervise the work 🙂
The weather on sunday was very unstable featuring heavy rain and hail showers mixed with sunny summer skies.
